Broncos place RB Torain on IR, sign Haynes
Nov 10, 2008 - 10:21 PM ENGLEWOOD, Colorado (Ticker) -- The Denver Broncos on Monday placed running back Ryan Torain on injured reserve and signed free-agent running back Alex Haynes.Denver's backfield has been ravaged by injuries. Torain was the third running back to be placed on injured reserve this month, joining Michael Pittman and Andre Hall.
Selvin Young, who started the season as a starter, had one just carry for two yards in last week's 34-30 loss before leaving the contest with a groin injury that had sidelined him the previous three games. He will be unavailable for Sunday's game at Atlanta.
Fullback Peyton Hillis was moved to tailback against Cleveland and rushed for 24 yards on eight carries.
Haynes was waived by Baltimore on August 30. The 5-10, 230-pounder has appeared in nine career games - all with the Carolina Panthers last season - and rushed three times for three yards. He also had three receptions for 14 yards.
