Crennel dismisses quitting comments
Nov 12, 2008 - 6:40 PM BEREA, Ohio (Ticker) -- Cleveland Browns coach Romeo Crennel dismissed claims by some of his players that their teammates quit in last week's 34-30 loss to the Denver Broncos.Denver rallied for three touchdowns in the final period to defeat the Browns, prompting an angry reaction from running back Jamal Lewis.
"When you have a team like that that comes into our house and we're capable of beating them, that's the first thing that comes to your mind, is guys quitting," Lewis said.
Crennel, however, said he had determined that no players quit in the game or on the team.
The coach added that he addressed the issue with the team Wednesday and spoke with both Lewis and return man Josh Cribbs, who also was critical of some teammates.
"I know I'm not a quitter and my players don't quit," Crennel said.
No one has shouted yet.
