Patriots LB Thomas ruled out with arm injury

Nov 12, 2008 - 9:51 PM FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- New England Patriots linebacker Adalius Thomas has been ruled out of Thursday night's game with the New York Jets due to a forearm injury.

Thomas reportedly suffered a broken left forearm in Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills, although the team has not disclosed the nature of the injury.

"No, I don't - maybe after practice," coach Bill Belichick said Wednesday when asked if he had an update on Thomas' condition.

However, some of New England's players spoke as if they expected Thomas to be out for an extended period of time - possibly the season.

"It's a huge loss for us," defensive end Ty Warren said. "He was asked to do a lot of things on this defense. But we have a lot of confidence that whoever steps in for him will be able to fit right in and we'll help him out doing that."

Thomas, 31, has recorded 34 tackles and is tied for the team lead with five sacks this season.

"Losing Adalius, he is a key to this defense but we have to move on and get ready for the Jets," tackle Jarvis Green said.

Running back LaMont Jordan did not practice again Wednesday and is listed as doubtful for the game, while backfield mate Sammy Morris practiced on a limited basis and is questionable.

The Patriots (6-3) are tied with the Jets for first place in the AFC East.
