Larsen starts on both sides of ball for Broncos
Nov 16, 2008 - 8:36 PM ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Spencer Larsen hit the trifecta in his first start for the Denver Broncos.Larsen became the first player in franchise history to start on both offense and defense in the same game on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
A sixth-round pick out of Arizona, Larsen started at fullback and linebacker for the injury-wracked Broncos. He also started on special teams.
Larsen is the first NFL player to start on offense and defense since Baltimore's Orlando Brown started at offensive tackle and defensive tackle at Oakland on December 14, 2003.
Injuries at both positions necessitated the double duty for Larsen. Starting fullback Peyton Hillis opened the game at tailback, while linebackers Nate Webster and D.J. Williams were sidelined by injuries.
