Report: Cardinals RB James wants release

Nov 19, 2008 - 11:23 PM PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Upset over losing his starting job, running back Edgerrin James apparently wants out of Arizona.

According to the Arizona Republic, James has asked the team - through his agent Drew Rosenhaus - for his release.

James was benched for Arizona's contest at St. Louis on November 2 in favor of rookie Tim Hightower and has just three carries during the Cardinals' three-game winning streak.

In his third season in Arizona, James has rushed for 385 yards and three touchdowns on 111 carries this year.

The report of James' unhappiness comes with the Cardinals (7-3) closing in on the NFC West title.

Arizona can clinch its first division title since 1975 this week with a win over the New York Giants, coupled with losses by San Francisco and Seattle.
