Browns QB Quinn has fractured finger

Nov 20, 2008 - 4:55 PM CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn has a small fracture in his right index finger, but is expected to make his third straight start on Sunday against the Houston Texans.

Browns coach Romeo Crennel said the fracture was discovered Wednesday on an X-ray, which was taken after Quinn complained of soreness in the finger following practice. The second-year quarterback was examined by a hand specialist, who cleared him to play.

Crennel said Quinn, who recently took over the starting job from Derek Anderson, was able to grip the ball during practice.

"This is a small fracture," said Crennel, adding that Quinn will wear a splint on the finger when he's not practicing or playing.

In Quinn's first two starts for the Browns, he has thrown 71 passes without an interception and led the team to an average of 29.5 points per game.

During Cleveland's 29-27 win in Buffalo on Monday, Quinn finished 14-of-36 for 185 yards with no touchdowns.
