Texans RB Green to have MRI Monday

Nov 24, 2008 - 4:46 PM HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Houston Texans running back Ahman Green is expected to miss substantial playing time after suffering a knee injury in Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns.

The oft-injured Green will undergo an MRI exam on Monday, but Texans coach Gary Kubiak expects the veteran to be sidelined for a while.

"Unfortunately, Ahman's down and it looks like it could be a few weeks, just talking to (head trainer) Kevin (Bastin)," Kubiak said after Houston's 16-6 victory Sunday.

Green already has sat out three full games this season due to knee and groin ailments. He also played in just six games last season and in only five in 2005.

The 11-year veteran rushed for 39 yards on 13 carries against the Texans. Serving mainly as the backup to rookie Steve Slaton, he has run for 294 yards and three touchdowns on 74 carries this season.
