Eagles QB McNabb to start vs. Cardinals

Nov 24, 2008 - 5:09 PM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb will be back in the starting lineup for Thursday night's home game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Eagles coach Andy Reid announced Monday that McNabb is still his starter, even though he benched the veteran quarterback for the second half of Sunday's 36-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Following an abysmal first half in which he committed three turnovers, McNabb was replaced by Kevin Kolb at the start of the third quarter.

"I felt it was the right thing to do at that particular time," Reid said of the benching. "I'll always do what's best for the team."

McNabb completed just 8-of-19 passes for 59 yards and was intercepted twice as the Eagles faced a 10-7 halftime deficit. The five-time Pro Bowler also lost a fumble in the opening 30 minutes.

McNabb also was dreadful in last weekend's 13-13 tie against the Cincinnati Bengals. He tied a career high with three interceptions and lost a fumble in the NFL's first tie since the 2002 season.

"Donovan needs to play better and the guys around Donovan need to play better," Reid said.
