Dolphins WR Camarillo done for season

Nov 24, 2008 - 10:39 PM MIAMI (Ticker) -- The Miami Dolphins suffered more than just a defeat to the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Wide receiver Greg Camarillo tore ligaments in his left knee and is done for the season.

Camarillo was injured during the fourth quarter of Miami's 48-28 defeat to the Patriots. An MRI exam on Monday confirmed the severity of the injury.

"Camarillo is not good. He's not good," Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said. "Camarillo is done."

The team's leading receiver with 55 receptions and two touchdowns, Camarillo just signed a three-year contract extension last week.

An undrafted free agent out of Stanford in 2007, Camarillo had six catches for 75 yards and a touchdown against New England.

"You don't want to lose a player like that," Sparano said. "He's been really productive for us, and again, to me the guy's just been exactly what you're looking for on your football team.

"I'm disappointed for him; I know how important it is for him. I'm just disappointed for the team."

Camarillo had a career-high 11 receptions for 101 yards in a 26-17 victory over Denver on November 2.

Sparano did not say who will replace Camarillo in the staring lineup, but he was impressed by rookie Davone Bess in Sunday's loss to New England.

A rookie from Hawaii, Bess had five catches for 87 yards against the Patriots.

"I thought Bess did some good things yesterday, I really did," Sparano said. "Really, I think he's done some good things in the last couple two, three weeks."
