Bengals place DE Geathers on injured list
Nov 24, 2008 - 10:02 PM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- The Cincinnati Bengals on Monday placed defensive end Robert Geathers on season-ending injured reserve after he suffered a knee injury in Thursday's 27-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.Geathers started the Bengals' first 11 games, recording 56 tackles, including a team-high 2 1/2 sacks. He also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.
Defensive end Frostee Rucker also was placed on IR after suffering a hamstring injury against the Steelers.
Rucker also saw action in all 11 games, registering 35 tackles with one sack.
In another move, the Bengals signed free agent guard Evan Mathis, a fourth-year player out of Alabama who will be joining his third team this season.
Mathis was waived by the Miami Dolphins on November 7 after playing in seven contests.
He entered the NFL as the Carolina Panthers' third-round pick in 2005. Mathis played in 25 games for the Panthers over the past three seasons, starting 15, before being released in training camp.
