Lions place DE DeVries on injured reserve
Nov 24, 2008 - 10:58 PM ALLEN PARK, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Lions placed defensive end Jared DeVries on season-ending injured reserve Monday due to a broken hand.Lions coach Rod Marinelli said DeVries re-fractured his left hand in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"He broke his hand again and he's going in for surgery tomorrow," Marinelli said.
Fellow defensive end Dewayne White sat out practice Monday and is doubtful for Thursday's home game against the Tennessee Titans, according to Marinelli.
Backup quarterback Drew Stanton suffered a concussion in Sunday's loss, prompting the Lions to sign former Michigan standout Drew Henson from their practice squad Monday.
