Browns sign QB Gradkowski

Dec 2, 2008 - 9:10 PM BEREA, Ohio (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Browns added depth to their injury-ravaged quarterback corps Tuesday by signing free agent Bruce Gradkowski from the practice squad.

The Browns are down to third-string quarterback Ken Dorsey after Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn suffered season-ending injuries the past two weeks.

Anderson has a torn MCL in his left knee and will miss four to six weeks, the Browns announced Monday. He will not undergo surgery, but he will wear a protective brace and will miss the Browns' final four regular-season contests.

Anderson's injury came just five days after the Browns learned that Quinn would miss the rest of the season with a broken finger. Quinn, who started Cleveland's previous three games after Anderson was benched, will undergo surgery on his broken right index finger, the team announced Tuesday.

Cleveland (4-8) is a severe long shot to reach the postseason, the earliest Anderson would be available to return.

Anderson suffered the injury in Sunday's 10-6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Browns coach Romeo Crennel said Dorsey will start next Sunday's game at Tennessee.

Gradkowski has appeared in 17 career games, including 11 starts, in two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has completed 190-of-352 passes for 1,791 yards with nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
