Vikings sign DT Kennedy
Dec 3, 2008 - 9:41 PM EDEN PRAIRIE, Minnesota (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Vikings made a move to patch up their depleted defensive line, signing tackle Jimmy Kennedy on Wednesday.Pro Bowl tackles Pat Williams and Kevin Williams were among six players suspended four games by the NFL on Tuesday for testing positive for a drug on the NFL's list of banned substances.
Peter Ginsberg, an attorney for the Williamses, was expected to file a legal procedure Wednesday in an attempt to block the suspensions.
However, the Vikings could not afford to wait and made the move to bring in Kennedy, a former first-round pick - 12th overall - by the St. Louis Rams in 2003.
The 6-4, 320-pound Kennedy never lived up to his promise, recording five career sacks including three in 2005. He appeared in six games with Jacksonville this season, recording eight tackles and one sack before he was released on November 24.
No one has shouted yet.
