Redskins RB Portis expected to play Sunday

Dec 5, 2008 - 9:26 PM ASHBURN, Virginia (Ticker) -- The chances of Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis playing in Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens may have improved after his limited participation in Friday's practice.

Slowed by knee and ankle injuries, Portis is officially listed as questionable and will be a game-time decision, according to Redskins coach Jim Zorn.

However, Zorn was encouraged following Portis' activity during Friday's workout.

"I'm optimistic about Clinton just because he moved around a little bit," Zorn said. "I saw him out there running, so I expect him to play."

Portis also jammed his neck in last week's 23-7 loss to the New York Giants and was held to 22 yards on 11 carries.

Portis' ailments have limited his practice time throughout the season, but he has yet to miss a game and ranks second in the NFL in rushing with 1,228 yards.

Washington (7-5) is one game out of a playoff spot in the NFC's wild card race.
