Saints QB Brees leads fan vote for Pro Bowl

Dec 11, 2008 - 7:38 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees won the fan vote for the Pro Bowl, the league announced Thursday.

Brees garnered 951,246 votes to finish just over 70,000 votes in front of New York Jets quarterback Brett Favre (880,833).

Despite the Saints enduring injuries at wide receiver, Brees still has thrown for a league-leading 4,100 yards and 26 touchdowns entering Thursday's game at Chicago.

Favre led the AFC in voting, more than 300,000 votes in front of Tennessee Titans rookie running back Chris Johnson (534,170).

The AFC and NFC Pro Bowl teams are based on the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group's vote counts one-third toward determining the 43-man rosters that represent the two conferences in Honolulu. Players and coaches will cast their votes by Saturday.

The Pro Bowl teams will be announced Tuesday.
