Patriots QB Cassel back with team
Dec 11, 2008 - 7:52 PM SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) - New England Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel rejoined the team Thursday, an indication that he'll likely play at Oakland on Sunday.Cassel missed practice Wednesday to be with family following the death of his father, Greg Cassel, and his status for this weekend was unclear.
However, Cassel was with the team on Thursday when it opened practice at San Jose State.
In the midst of a West Coast swing, the Patriots traveled from Seattle to San Jose on Sunday following a 24-21 victory over the Seahawks.
New England (8-5) heads into the weekend tied for the AFC East lead with the New York Jets and Miami.
