Seahawks T Walter Jones has season-ending surgery

Dec 12, 2008 - 6:59 PM RENTON, Washington (Ticker) -- Seattle Seahawks left tackle Walter Jones will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing knee surgery, coach Mike Holmgren said Friday during his radio show.

Jones underwent the arthroscopic procedure Thursday and will miss Seattle's last three games.

An eight-time Pro Bowler, Jones sat out last week, marking the first time he missed a game because of an injury since his rookie season in 1997.

Jones, 34, will need 12 weeks to recover from the surgery, but Holmgren expects the four-time All-Pro to be healthy by next year's training camp.

"It should not be a major thing to affect him in training camp next year," Holmgren said during the radio show on KIRO 710 AM.

The 6-5, 325-pound Jones has started the first 12 games this season for Seattle (2-11), where he has spent his entire 12-year career.
