Raiders promote RB Rankin

Dec 13, 2008 - 11:34 PM ALAMEDA, California (Ticker) -- The Oakland Raiders on Saturday promoted rookie running back Louis Rankin to the active roster.

The University of Washington product had been on the Raiders' practice squad after being released in the team's final preseason cutdowns.

He was Oakland's second-leading rusher in the preseason with 148 yards on 21 carries.

Rankin takes the roster space left open when Oakland released cornerback Michael Waddell earlier in the week.
