Browns TE Heiden, LB Bell out for season
Dec 17, 2008 - 1:22 AM BEREA, Ohio (Ticker) -- Cleveland Browns tight end Steve Heiden and rookie linebacker Beau Bell both need season-ending knee surgery, head coach Romeo Crennel announced on Tuesday.Heiden, who has been starting in place of Kellen Winslow (high ankle sprain), suffered a torn ACL in Monday's 30-3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Heiden caught 14 passes for 249 yards in 14 games.
Heiden will undergo surgery on Thursday.
Bell, the team's lone draft pick in April's draft, will have arthroscopic surgery to correct some tendinitis and swelling. A fourth-round pick out of UNLV, Bell recorded three tackles in five games - all on special teams.
