Report: Giants won't sign Horn

Dec 17, 2008 - 6:21 PM NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) - After expressing interest, the New York Giants decided against signing veteran wide receiver Joe Horn, the Newark Star-Ledger reported Wednesday.

Horn had arrived in the New York area Tuesday and met with the Giants on Wednesday.

According to the report, the Giants opted against signing Horn due to concerns about the 36-year-old's explosiveness.

The 13-year veteran has been a free agent since the Atlanta Falcons released him in August, after Horn requested a trade.

Horn spent just one season with the Falcons after being cut by New Orleans in March 2007. The Saints record holder for most touchdown receptions, Horn has 603 catches for 8,744 yards and 58 touchdowns during his career.

New York (11-3) developed a need at wide receiver after Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in a nightclub last month and landed on the non-football injury list.

The Giants have struggled with a 1-2 record in his absence and the offense has been held to 36 points over that span.
