Browns TE Winslow out for Sunday's game
Dec 18, 2008 - 5:27 PM BEREA, Ohio (Ticker) -- Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow will miss his third straight game due to a high ankle sprain when the team hosts the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.Coach Romeo Crennel ruled the Pro Bowl tight end out on Thursday.
Winslow, who also missed time in October due to an undisclosed illness, has 43 receptions for 428 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games this season.
With the Browns (4-10) out of playoff contention it appears unlikely that Winslow will take the field again this season.
Despite contract issues and conflicts with the team's front office this season, Winslow stated recently that he wants to stay with the Browns.
"I love being a Cleveland Brown," Winslow said last week. " ... I do want to be back here. I love being here. I love playing here. The fans have stuck by me."
Winslow, whose current contract runs through 2010, has been seeking an extension from the team since the start of the season.
His request for a new deal has not been addressed by Browns' general manager Phil Savage, who said recently that no contracts will be negotiated before the end of the season.
No one has shouted yet.
