NFL moves three games to late afternoon

Dec 22, 2008 - 5:26 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The NFL on Monday moved three games from 1:00 to 4:15 p.m. for next Sunday's regular-season finales.

As expected, all three contests - Miami at New York Jets, Jacksonville at Baltimore and Dallas as Philadelphia - have playoff implications.

On Sunday, the league announced that the showdown to decide the AFC West between Denver and San Diego will be switched to 8:15 next Sunday night.

Miami (10-5) will win the AFC East by beating the Jets; New York (9-6) needs a victory and losses by Baltimore (10-5) and New England (10-5) to claim the division title.

The Ravens will nail down the second wild card spot by beating the Jaguars. A loss by Baltimore opens the door for the Dolphins-Jets winner and the Patriots to earn postseason berths.

The Cowboys (9-6) also control their own destiny and will clinch a wild card by winning in Philadelphia (8-6-1). The Eagles need help - they would have to beat Dallas and rely on losses by Tampa Bay (9-6) and 8-6 Chicago (which hosts Green Bay on Monday night).

Another scenario for Philadelphia would involve Minnesota (9-6) losing at home to the New York Giants while the Bears win their final two to take the NFC North title.

The Chargers (7-8) will snare the division title with a home win over the Broncos (8-7).
