Steelers place T Smith on IR
Dec 23, 2008 - 7:44 PM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday placed offensive tackle Marvel Smith on injured reserve.A second-round draft pick in 2000, Smith played the first eight games before suffering a back injury and has been inactive since.
Smith, who was named to the Pro Bowl in 2004, has made 107 starts in 110 career games.
The Steelers signed second-year offensive tackle Jason Capizzi from the St. Louis Rams' practice squad to take Smith's roster spot.
