Jaguars sign QB Smith
Dec 23, 2008 - 9:25 PM JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday promoted quarterback Paul Smith to the team's active roster.Smith, 24, who had been on the Jaguars' practice team, originally signed with Jacksonville on May 16 as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Tulsa. He was the Conference USA Player of the Year in 2007 after passing for 4,753 yards and 42 touchdowns.
Smith takes the roster spot of offensive linemen Trey Darilek, who had signed with the Jaguars on Monday.
