Cowboys QB Romo misses practice due to illness

Dec 24, 2008 - 9:59 PM IRVING, Texas (Ticker) -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo missed Wednesday's practice due to an undisclosed illness.

Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips did not reveal the nature of Romo's illness, saying only that the two-time Pro Bowler would "be back tomorrow."

Romo's absence occurred just four days before the Cowboys (9-6) will compete in a must-win game for the playoffs. If Dallas beats the Philadelphia Eagles (8-6-1), it will secure a wild card in the NFC.

Romo missed three games earlier this season with a broken pinkie finger on his right hand and has been limited in recent weeks by a nagging back injury.

The 28-year-old Romo has passed for 3,265 yards and 26 touchdowns in 12 games this season. However, he also has been prone to turnovers, throwing 13 interceptions and losing five fumbles.
