Packers special teams coach Stock retires

Jan 2, 2009 - 10:58 PM GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- Green Bay Packers special teams coordinator Mike Stock announced his retirement Friday, ending his 44-year coaching career.

Stock, who spent the last three seasons with the Packers, also has served as an assistant with St. Louis, Washington, Kansas City and Cincinnati.

Prior to joining the NFL coaching ranks, Stock made stops at seven different colleges, including Notre Dame and Ohio State.

"My passion for the game was strong through the very last contest, but in thinking further about the commitment needed for another season and discussing it with my family, ultimately I decided this was the best decision for us," Stock said.

"I've been very fortunate throughout my life to play and coach a sport I love very much. I thank the Green Bay Packers for the opportunity to spend three wonderful years here."
