Eagles K Akers sets field goal mark

Jan 11, 2009 - 8:35 PM EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Philadelphia Eagles placekicker David Akers set an NFL record by converting his 17th consecutive postseason field goal in Sunday's divisional playoff game against the New York Giants.

Akers set the mark with a 35-yard field goal midway through the third quarter. It was his second of the game and sixth of this postseason. He booted four in last weekend's 26-14 win at Minnesota.

The 10-year veteran entered the contest with 25 playoff field goals - good for third all-time.
