Eagles RB Westbrook practices, is set to play

Jan 16, 2009 - 6:47 PM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook practiced on a limited basis Friday and expects to play in Sunday's NFC championship game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Westbrook had sat out practice the previous two days, prompting speculation of his availability for the title game due to an ailing knee.

But the two-time Pro Bowl running back sought to allay any concerns following Friday's practice.

"It just feels good right now," Westbrook said. "I don't worry about it at all. My knee's fine."

Westbrook has carried the ball 38 times for just 74 yards this postseason. He has been nursing a chronically swollen knee in addition to the lingering high ankle sprain he suffered earlier in the season.

One media outlet reported earlier in the week that Westbrook has re-injured the knee in last week's 23-11 victory over the New York Giants.

Westbrook dismissed that as newsworthy.

"A lot of times throughout games, you're going to tweak injuries," he said. "This isn't the only time I tweaked my knee. ... It happens throughout football games.

"I feel great."

In his past five games, Westbrook has failed to rush for more than 53 yards and has only one receiving touchdown in that span.

Eagles offensive tackle Jon Runyan (knee) missed practice for a third straight game Friday but is listed as probable for Sunday's game.
