Steelers WR Ward has shoulder surgery
Feb 11, 2009 - 12:03 AM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward underwent a procedure on his shoulder this week.Ward, who caught two passes for 43 yards in the Steelers' 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, is expected to be ready for the 2009 season.
The 11-year veteran also dealt with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee for the two weeks prior to the Super Bowl, but that injury will not require surgery.
Ward caught 81 passes for 1,043 yards and seven touchdowns this season.
