Patriots re-sign trio of players
Mar 5, 2009 - 10:52 PM FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- The New England Patriots on Thursday re-signed safety James Sanders, linebacker Eric Alexander and punter Chris Hanson.Terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
In 2008, Sanders, 25, started 14 games and recorded 66 tackles, which ranked sixth on the team. A fourth-round pick in 2005, Sanders has totaled 198 tackles, one sack and five interceptions in his four seasons with New England.
Alexander, 27, has played in 31 games for the Patriots since being signed as a rookie free agent out of Louisiana State in 2004 season. He has recorded eight career tackles and 26 special teams tackles.
Hanson, 32, completed his second season with the Patriots and 11th overall. Last season, he averaged 43.7 yards per punt, the second-highest mark of his career.
