Stars activate D Zubov from injured reserve

Jan 25, 2007 - 11:54 PM FRISCO, Texas (Ticker) - The Dallas Stars on Thursday got one of their top players back, activating defenseman Sergei Zubov from injured reserve.

Zubov, 36, has not played since January 11 after suffering an elbow injury in a 5-1 loss against Anaheim. The Stars went 1-2-1 in the blue-liner's absence.

A first-time candidate for the Norris Trophy last season, Zubov has appeared in 44 games this season, ranking second on the team in assists (23) and third in points (30). He also has scored seven goals.

The only active defenseman to post 30 or more assists and 40 or more points over the previous 10 seasons, Zubov has posted 143 goals, 565 assists and 708 points in 978 career games with Dallas, Pittsburgh and the New York Rangers.

The Stars return from the All-Star break by hosting the Penguins on Friday.
