Stars activate C Modano from injured reserve
Jan 30, 2007 - 10:54 PM SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) - Mike Modano is back to try and jump-start the Dallas Stars. The Stars on Tuesday activated the center from injured reserve prior to their game at the San Jose Sharks.
Modano, 36, had missed the previous 23 games since suffering a lower body injury against the Sharks on December 4.
Dallas has struggled recently without Modano, going 4-5-2 in its last 11 games. The Stars averaged just 2.5 goals over that span.
Sitting just seven goals shy of tying Joe Mullen as the top goal-scoring American in NHL history, Modano has posted 10 goals and 10 assists in 27 games this season. Despite his lengthy absence, the center still ranks first on the team in game-winning goals with four and third in power-play tallies with six.
