Zetterberg, Havlat, Smith named NHL's Three Stars
Feb 12, 2007 - 5:42 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Mike Smith of the Dallas Stars did not allow a goal in more than 131 minutes, but had to settle for the NHL's Third Star of the Week.Left wing Henrik Zetterberg of the Detroit Red Wings led all scorers with nine points, including five goals, to earn the First Star of the Week on Monday.
Right wing Martin Havlat of the Chicago Blackhawks came in just behind Zetterberg with eight points and was named as the Second Star of the Week.
Zetterberg scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the New York Rangers last Monday. He tallied two goals, including the game-winner, and one assist in a 4-2 win over Phoenix on Wednesday and matched a season high with four points in a 7-4 triumph over Calgary on Sunday.
Havlat compiled five goals and three assists as the Blackhawks won three of four road games. He scored twice in a 3-2 shootout victory at Calgary last Tuesday and capped the week with a goal and two assists in a 5-4 win at Columbus on Sunday.
Smith went 3-0-0 with a 0.85 goals-against average and a career-high shutout streak of 131:06.
Making his first appearance since January 4, Smith did not allow a goal in 52 minutes in relief of starter Marty Turco in a 4-2 win over Minnesota last Tuesday. He recorded his third shutout of the season in a 1-0 victory over Anaheim on Saturday and stopped 12 of 14 shots in 30 minutes of a 7-5 victory over Colorado on Sunday.
