Lundqvist, Nabokov among NHL's Three Stars of the Week

Mar 12, 2007 - 6:41 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Goaltenders Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers and Evgeni Nabokov of the San Jose Sharks were among the NHL's Three Stars of the week for the period ending March 11, the league announced on Monday.

Lundqvist was awarded the First Star after posting a 3-0-1 record with a 1.43 goals-against average and .948 save percentage as the Rangers moved into the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Swede stopped 30 shots and both shootout attempts in a pivotal 2-1 win over Carolina on Sunday.

Left wing Jeff Hamilton of the Chicago Blackhawks earned the Second Star after tying for the league lead with seven points, including three goals, in just two games.

Hamilton recorded his second career hat trick and added two assists in a 7-5 victory over Phoenix on Saturday. His five-point game was the highest for a Blackhawk this season.

Nabokov posted a 2-0-1 record and 0.66 goals-against average and .976 save percentage in three games. He recorded his sixth and seventh shutouts of the season, stopping 26 shots in a 3-0 victory over Minnesota last Tuesday and 22 shots in a 3-0 win over Edmonton on Sunday.
