Flyers sign RW Upshall to new two-year contract

May 11, 2007 - 3:47 PM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia Flyers on Friday signed right wing Scottie Upshall to a two-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but Canadian web site TSN.ca reported that the deal is worth $2.45 million.

Acquired in the blockbuster deal which sent Peter Forsberg to the Nashville Predators, Upshall was impressive in his short stint with the Flyers, scoring six goals and 13 points in 18 games.

"We were very pleased with Scottie's performance after we acquired him midway through last season and we're glad to have him locked up in our organization for the next couple of seasons," Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said. "It was a priority for us to get this deal done as soon as possible so we can continue to move forward with our offseason plans."

Upshall, 23, collected eight goals and eight assists in 32 combined games with Philadelphia and Nashville this past season.

The sixth overall draft selection in 2002, the Alberta native has 17 tallies and 25 assists in 95 career games over parts of four campaigns.
