Canucks' Kesler has shoulder surgery
May 8, 2012 - 8:00 PM Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Vancouver Canucks forward Ryan Kesler had successful shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum, the team announced on Tuesday.Kesler had 22 goals and 27 assists in 77 games this season. He added three assists in five playoff contests for the Canucks, who were upset in the first round by the eighth-seeded Kings.
"After consultation with our team physicians following the playoffs, it was deemed that Ryan would require a procedure on his shoulder," said Canucks president and general manager Mike Gillis. "We expect a full recovery and determined this procedure would best serve both Ryan and the team's long term goals."
Kesler won the Selke Trophy last year after posting a career-high 41 goals and 32 assists in 82 games.
The former first-round pick has 153 goals and 184 assists in 561 career contests with the Canucks.
