Hurricanes agree to terms with RW Walker

Jun 21, 2007 - 1:44 AM RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday agreed to terms with right wing Scott Walker on a three-year contract worth $7.5 million.

Walker enjoyed a successful first campaign with the Hurricanes, recording 21 goals and 30 assists in 81 games this past season. It was the third career 20-goal performance by the 33-year-old, who netted 25 with Nashville in 2000-01 and 2003-04.

"Keeping Scott in Carolina was one of our top priorities this season," Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford said. "He brings skill and grit to our forward lines and he has become one of our team's leaders on and off the ice."

A veteran of parts of 12 seasons, Walker has 127 goals and 215 assists in 688 career games with Vancouver, Nashville and Carolina. He was a fifth-round pick of the Canucks in 1993.
