Senators re-sign C McAmmond

Jun 22, 2007 - 8:22 PM OTTAWA (Ticker) -- Although his 2006-07 season ended in disappointment, Dean McAmmond will have a chance for better results with the Ottawa Senators.

Injured during Ottawa's loss to the Anaheim Ducks in the Stanley Cup Finals, McAmmond on Friday was re-signed to a multi-year contract by the Senators.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

In his first season with Ottawa after signing as a free agent in August, McAmmond recorded 14 goals and 15 assists in 81 regular-season games. He added five tallies and eight points in 18 playoff contests before receiving a forearm to the head from Anaheim defenseman Chris Pronger in Game Three of the Finals, resulting in a concussion that forced the 34-year-old to miss the final two games of the series.

Prior to the injury, McAmmond scored what proved to be the winning goal in the Senators' only victory in the Finals.

Drafted 22nd overall by Chicago in 1991, McAmmond has collected 164 goals and 229 assists in 804 career games with the Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers, Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues and Senators. He enjoyed his best season in 2001-02, when he registered career highs of 21 goals and 51 points with Calgary.
