Habs' Gionta to miss rest of playoffs
May 8, 2013 - 5:31 PM Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - The Montreal Canadiens announced that captain Brian Gionta will miss the rest of the postseason with a torn left bicep.Gionta, who will undergo surgery on Friday, sat out two Canadiens' first four games in their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against the Ottawa Senators with what the team called an upper-body injury.
The diminutive forward registered 14 goals and 12 assists while not missing a game during the regular season.
The Senators lead the best-of-seven set, 3-1, and can eliminate the Canadiens Thursday in Montreal.
