Capitals re-sign D Jurcina to two-year contract
Jul 27, 2007 - 11:30 PM WASHINGTON DC (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals on Friday re-signed defenseman Milan Jurcina to a two-year contract.Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 24-year-old Jurcina just completed his second season in the NHL, scoring two goals and nine points in 30 games for Washington. The native of Slovakia played in 91 career games with the Boston Bruins before being acquired by the Capitals on February 1, 2007 in exchange for a conditional draft pick.
The 6-4, 233-pound Jurcina, who was an eighth-round selection by the Bruins in the 2001 Draft, had six goals and 11 assists for Boston during the 2005-06 season. He also had two goals and an assist for the Bruins before being traded in February.
Jurcina also represented Slovakia in the 2006 Olympic Winter Games, the 2006 and 2007 World Championships and two World Junior Championships.
