Blackhawks extend Raanta, Morin, Smith
Jun 27, 2014 - 8:50 PM Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Blackhawks announced that they have agreed to terms with forwards Ben Smith and Jeremy Morin and goaltender Antti Raanta on two-year contract extensions.Raanta posted a 13-5-4 record with a 2.71 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage across 25 appearances for the Blackhawks during his first NHL season.
From 2009 to 2013, the 25-year-old netminder registered a 54-33-21 record and 10 shutouts with Lukko Rauma and Assat Pori of SM-liiga in Finland before the Blackhawks signed him last season.
Smith is coming off a career season, recording 14 goals and 26 points in 75 games during the regular season. The 25-year-old has tallied 18 goals and 12 assists in 95 games across four seasons with the Blackhawks.
Morin, 23, scored five goals and six assists in 24 games and appeared in two playoff games during the 2013-14 campaign.
