Rangers bring in Stempniak

Jul 19, 2014 - 6:01 PM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Rangers agreed to terms with veteran free-agent forward Lee Stempniak on Saturday.

Details of the contract were not provided by the team, though the New York Post reported it to a be a one-year pact worth $900,000.

This will be the sixth team in seven seasons for Stempniak, who spent the 2013-14 campaign between the Calgary Flames and Pittsburgh Penguins and totaled 12 goals and 22 assists over a combined 73 games.

Over 637 career NHL games, Stempniak has amassed 150 goals and 191 assists.

The 31-year-old upstate New York native has also played for St. Louis, Toronto and the Phoenix Coyotes over a nine-year NHL career. Stempniak set career bests with 27 goals and 52 points with the Blues in 2006-07.
