Leafs retain Gardiner with 5-year deal
Jul 29, 2014 - 11:50 PM Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday signed defenseman Jake Gardiner to a five-year contract.No financial terms were disclosed by the club, but multiple reports state the deal is worth $20.25 million.
Gardiner enjoyed a career year with the Leafs last season, posting personal bests of 10 goals, 21 assists, 31 points and 80 games played.
The 24-year-old Minnesota native, who plied his trade collegiately for Wisconsin, has picked up 17 goals and 48 assists over 167 games in parts of three seasons for Toronto.
