Giroux hurt as Flyers open camp
Sep 19, 2014 - 6:47 PM Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux is expected to be sidelined approximately two weeks after suffering an undisclosed lower-body injury on the first day of training camp.Giroux exited the ice around 15 minutes into Friday's practice. Flyers general manager Ron Hextall later said the star center's injury is a new occurrence and he entered camp in good health.
"This just happened today. It's the first day of camp and guys go 100 miles per-hour and things happen," Hextall said. "Obviously its not the way you want to start. That's the hand we were dealt and we're going to deal with it."
The Flyers open their regular season in just under three weeks with a matchup at Boston on Oct. 8.
