Senators re-sign C Fisher to five-year contract
Sep 17, 2007 - 6:35 PM OTTAWA (Ticker) -- The Ottawa Senators on Monday re-signed center Mike Fisher to a five-year contract.Financial terms were not disclosed, but the Ottawa Sun reported on its web site that the deal is worth $21 million.
Fisher enjoyed his finest career season in the NHL in 2007-08, registering career highs of 22 goals and 26 assists in 68 games with the Senators.
"I wanted to stay here," Fisher told the Sun. "I couldn't see myself playing anywhere else."
In seven NHL seasons - all with Ottawa - the 27-year-old Fisher has 92 goals and 100 assists in 384 regular-season games. A second-round draft selection in 1998, Fisher also has 12 goals and 11 assists in 69 career playoff games.
