Jagr, 43, signs 1-year deal with Panthers
Apr 12, 2015 - 5:49 PM Sunrise, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Veteran forward Jaromir Jagr agreed Sunday to a one-year contract to remain with the Florida Panthers and play a 22nd NHL season.Jagr, 43, played in 20 games for the Panthers after they acquired him from New Jersey in February with eyes on the playoffs. He had six goals and 12 assists in the 20 games.
On Thursday, the future Hall-of-Famer moved into fourth place on the all-time NHL points list, passing Ron Francis with his 1,799th point. He passed both Mike Gartner and Phil Esposito on the all-time goals list this season and now sits fifth behind only Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Brett Hull and Marcel Dionne.
A five-time scoring champion and 12-time All-Star, Jagr has 722 goals and 1,802 points in 1,550 games for the Penguins, Capitals, Rangers, Flyers, Stars, Bruins, Devils and Panthers.
He has won two Olympic medals with the Czech Republic, taking gold in 1998 at Nagano and bronze in 2006 at Turin.
