Stars activate C Ribeiro from injured reserve

Oct 10, 2007 - 8:12 PM DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Dallas Stars on Wednesday activated center Mike Ribeiro from injured reserve.

Ribeiro missed the entire preseason and the first three games of the regular season with an ankle injury. Last season, the 6-foot, 178-pound center led the Stars in scoring, amassing 18 goals and 59 points in 81 games.

Ribeiro, 27, has 68 goals and 144 assists in 357 career games.

In a corresponding move, the Stars placed goaltender Mike Smith on injured reserve, retroactive to Tuesday.

Smith, 25, suffered a bruised arm in practice on Tuesday and will miss a minimum of three games, according to the team. In his only appearance this season, Smith made 17 saves on 21 shots in a 5-1 loss at Nashville on Saturday.
