Zetterberg headlines NHL's "Three Stars" of Month

Nov 1, 2007 - 5:58 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Henrik Zetterberg's big start has earned him another award.

The Detroit Red Wings' left wing on Thursday was named the NHL's "First Star" of the month for October. Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Pascal Leclaire and Calgary Flames right wing Jarome Iginla rounded out the "Three Stars" for the month.

Scoring a point in each the Red Wings' first 13 games, Zetterberg leads the league with 10 goals and 22 points. He has already recorded seven multi-point games, helping his club jump out to a 10-2-1 start.

Zetterberg, who has also notched a pair of three-point efforts last month, is a game shy of tying the franchise record for longest point streak to start a season. Norm Ullman collected a point in 14 straight contests to begin the 1960-61 season.

Also honored with a weekly "Three Stars" award on October 15, Zetterberg was last held scoreless in a regular-season game on February 8, 2007.

Leclaire played a pivotal role in helping the Blue Jackets post their best start in franchise history (7-3-1). The fourth-season netminder is 6-2-0 with a 1.25 goals-against average, .953 save percentage and four shutouts in eight games.

A two-time Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy winner, Iginla ranked second among players with 19 points, including eight goals, in 12 games. So far, the 30-year-old wing has figured in 45 percent of the Flames' 42 goals.
