Flyers C Briere headlines NHL's Three Stars

Nov 27, 2007 - 12:28 AM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Philadelphia Flyers center Daniel Briere, Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov and Dallas Stars goaltender Mike Smith on Monday were named the NHL's "Three Stars" of the past week.

Briere earned the First Star after scoring a league-leading eight points, including a pair of game-winning goals.

Briere, who recorded his first hat trick for the Flyers, signed an eight-year, $52 million free agent contract in the offseason.

Briere leads Philadelphia in scoring with 28 points in 22 games and is a big reason the Flyers (13-7-2, 28 points) are in first place in the Atlantic Division.

The Second Star was awarded to Bryzgalov, who posted a 3-0-0 record and a 1.62 goals-against average.

Smith helped the Stars (12-7-4, 28 points) move into first place in the Pacific Division by posting a 3-0-0 record. He made 22 saves and recorded his fourth career shutout in a 3-0 victory over Los Angeles on Monday.
