Stars place RW Lehtinen on IR
Dec 3, 2007 - 6:56 PM COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- The Dallas Stars on Monday placed right wing Jere Lehtinen on injured reserve, retroactive to November 21, with an abdominal injury that required surgery.Lehtinen, 34, missed the past six games and is expected to miss the next 8-10 weeks.
In 21 games this season, Lehtinen has six goals and 13 assists. The three-time Selke Award winner missed just 11 total games over Dallas' previous two seasons.
Last season, Lehtinen led the Stars with 26 goals. Only Mike Modano (15) and Brian Bellows (10) have more 20-goal seasons than Lehtinen, who recorded his seventh 20-goal campaign last year.
Also on Monday, the Stars activated defenseman Mattias Norstrom from injured reserve.
Norstrom, 35, suffered a small fracture to his orbital bone November 7 in a 3-1 victory over San Jose and missed the following 12 games due to the injury.
Norstrom has gone scoreless with 12 penalty minutes in 15 games this season.
